TCM showed this delightful musical comedy on August 6th, 2023, and I enjoyed it tremendously! Very Happy

Why is that noteworthy?

Well, after watching it I found out the movie flopped at the box office, the songs were considered unremarkable, and even one the stars —Eddie Fisher — said it was a disappointment.

It's remake of a Ginger Rogers, David Niven comedy from 1939. The cast of this enjoyable remake includes Eddie Fisher and his then-wife, Debbie Renolds. Believe it or not, their daughter — Carrie Fisher — was there, too.

(What? Shocked)

Yep, Debbie sang and danced her way through the movie will carring a seven-month old Princess Leia! And yet, Debbie's figure was just as shapely as it is in all her other movies. In fact, she was born just before the movie's release!

Apparently the Force was strong with that tiny Babi Knight! (Okay, so she was never a Jedi, but the joke is too funny resist. Cool

Enjoy this well-made trailer, narrated by the great Art Gilmore, the voice behind many of the trailers for classic 1950' sci-fi movies.

TCM also showed a 1953 movie starring Debbie Reynolds called I Love Melvin, another singing-and-dancing extravaganza. Take a gander at the clip below, a production number on a stylized set of a football field, with a dancing football team. Very Happy

And get this — Debbie plays the football! She's carried around and thrown high in the air repeatedly in shots that involved incredible gymnastics and flawless wire work!

Amazing . . .
Shocked
