Sad to report the passing of actor Alex Cord (May 3, 1933~August 9, 2021) at the age of 88.

Alex studied at the prestigious Actor's Studio prior to embarking on his acting career.

Alex was an excellent equestrian which came in handy in his roles as a cowboy over the years.

Alex portrayed scientist Dylan Hunt in Gene Roddenberry's CBS sci~fi TV-movie/pilot Genesis II, that first premiered on March 23, 1973. Hunt is the subject of an experiment in suspended animation in the year 1973. The cavern used for this experiment suffers a devastating earthquake which buries the chamber Hunt is in.

Hunt is awaken in the year 2133 by members of PAX. PAX is a peaceful organization which attempts to rebuild a devastated Earth that had gone through a World War decades earlier.

Unfortunately this movie was not picked up as a weekly series. Gene Roddenberry reworked it a bit and it became the sci~fi TV-movie/pilot Planet Earth for ABC and debuted on April 23, 1974 with the Dylan hunt role recast with John Saxon. John Saxon passed away in July 2020, a little over a year before Alex Cord's death.
