Netflix Orders Tina Fey, Robert Carlock Animated Comedy Set After Alien Attack Destroys Earth

Mulligan follows what remains of humanity as they attempt to rebuild society from scratch

Netflix has ordered Mulligan, an animated comedy series from Tina Fey and Robert Carlock set after an alien attack decimates Earth and humans are left to rebuild society, the streaming service announced Monday.

Here’s the logline for the show from the duo behind the now-ended Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and 30 Rock: After an alien attack destroys the earth, what remains of humanity has the chance to start society over from scratch. But can we get it right this time? And does anyone know how to, like, farm?

Netflix has ordered 20 episodes of Mulligan, which is created by Carlock and Sam Means, who will executive produce alongside Fey. Other executive producers include David Miner, Eric Gurian, Scott Greenberg and Joel Kuwahara.

The series hails from Universal Television, a division of NBCUniversal Content Studios, in association with Fey’s Little Stranger, Inc., Bevel Gears, 3 Arts Entertainment and Bento Box Entertainment.

Mulligan is not the first project Carlock and Fey have teamed up on since the end of Kimmy Schmidt last January. The two currently have an untitled Universal TV-produced comedy series set at NBC, which stars Ted Danson, Holly Hunter and Bobby Moynihan and is centered on a wealthy businessman (Danson) who runs for mayor of Los Angeles “for all the wrong reasons.”

Fey is also currently working on a pop star comedy called Girls5Eva for NBCUniversal’s upcoming streaming service Peacock. That project is also produced by Universal Television.
