TODAY’S TOPIC: Science fiction is famous for presenting us with visions of the future, and they range from the utopian to the dystopian versions.

We get a few of each in the threads below, so pay attention the clues I offer. I’ll try not make them too obsure this time.

Just remember that the future is a lot closer to us now than it was in the 1950s. In fact, in some ways the future is already in the past! Just look at 2001: A Space Odyssey!

Don’t forget to leave something in the Time Capsule we call “replies” here on All Sci-Fi! Cool

Two for the price of one: this movie has both a utopian and a dystopian future!

This one is clearly on the utopian side; where else could you get convertible private airplanes which allow lovers to flirt in midair.

This future is post-apopcolyptic — and yet a uptopia for a “leg man”.

When a fearless jet jocket mets a goreous “future girl”, they’re bond to change mankind’s destiny.

This beautiful utopia has everything . . . except long term health care.
