The article at the link above contains this excerpt, which definitely peaked my interest.

Based on Kim Stanley Robinson’s Mars Trilogy of novels — Red Mars, Green Mars, and Blue Mars — which chronicle mankind’s colonization and transformation of the red planet, the series will follow the first settlers charged with terraforming a mysterious planet, all of whom have competed to be a part of the mission.
Red Mars will delve into the lives of these relative strangers, cut off from everything they’ve ever known and living in the harshest environment imaginable. Regarded as the best novels ever written on the subject, Robinson’s trilogy has been adapted in 21 languages.

Great series! I have the complete audio-book sets.
Unfortunately, as you can see by the date of the original post....the project has been dead for five years!
From Variety:
Quote: | “Red Mars” is set to go into production next summer for a January 2017 debut. |
From Wiki:
On September 24, 2014, SpikeTV announced it was working with producer Vince Gerardis to develop a TV series adaptation of Red Mars.
On December 8, 2015, SpikeTV formally greenlit a ten-episode first season of a TV series based on the novels, with J. Michael Straczynski serving as showrunner and writer.
On March 25, 2016, Deadline reported that Straczynski had left his position as showrunner with Peter Noah replacing him but he too left due to creative differences with Spike. Spike has put the series on hold for further development.
