And I don't think that's a door on the right....It looks more like a window over the sink.

It's a window over a turntable, the white piece at the end of the count is the turntable arm.

It's a door in the corner. The far side of the frame around the door meets the right end of the back wall, forming the corner of the room. The corner-mounted speaker sits right in that corner. The ceiling and walls above the right speaker show where the corner of the room is. The turntable and cabinet cast a shadow on the back wall, so the cabinet is not in the corner. The door disappears down behind the cabinet. Doors, not windows, are built in corners.

Professor Orzel is correct. That's a door in the right corner, but it took me a moment to realize that the cabinet with the turntable on it seems to be positioned partially in front of the door, blocking it.

However, if we assume that each floor tile is 12X12, then there seems to be about 24" between the end of the cabinet and the back wall, which is barely large enough for the door. Barely.

But of course, the large piece of equipment on the back wall and the cabinet on the right are blocking off that door anyway.

And what's behind that red curtain behind the large piece of equipment?

Lastly . . . other than the tiled floor, this just doesn't seem to be a kitchen at all! Shocked

AND

The first link has the photo labeled as "a retrofuturism kitchen".

The second link is about music studios.

Why, that's the shower curtain, Bud.

Looks like Top Design Mag needs a bigger investigative staff. Or maybe a more skeptical editor will suffice.

It's interesting to note how everything had to be streamlined. For the areas where sheet metal would have been too laborious to form, they substituted cloth.

Nowadays all the innards are left exposed.

Some robot are more high-tech than others... and some, a bit less...

The page this comes from alleges this is the robot in 1940's "Mysterious Doctor Satan" serial, but I suspect not. It rather more amateur and nothing like the other stills.

. . . . . . . . . .

This is Doctor Satan's robot.

(Although I can see how someone might make that mistake. Its head is almost a similar shape.)

Before we move on from robots, let's look at the Lost in Space robot (B9) and his companion Verda, from The Android Machine episode.

That would make a good Halloween costume, at least until you wanted to have a drink. Or walk through a doorway. Surprised

It has the added advantage of curing nail biting.

And if you'll forgive a lecherous observation, it leaves the attractive lady in a vulnerable position. It's sort of like bondage for airplane enthusiasts.
. . . Shocked

I don't know. If those wings are made out of hard plastic, she could wack the stuffing out of anyone that tries anything. Laughing

I suspect it would take her so long to spin around that a guy with lecherous intentions would have time to jump back and enjoy the 360?? view she'd provide! Wink

I realize she's not supposed to actually be air worthy, but watching her run up an down the runway trying to get airborne would be quite enjoyable. Very Happy
