Elvis at his best . . . even when the movie falls a little bit short.

But not too short in this South American adventure that includes bull fighting, cliff diving, and lavish production numbers in a swanky resort in (you guessed it) Acapulco! Very Happy

Elvis demonstrates his bravery by jumping into the ocean from high places, and he demonstrates his sterling character by resisting the advances of sexy under-aged blonds!

The story puts Elvis in dramatic situations which prove he's the man we all wanted to be in 1963. If you'd like a taste of this movie, feel free to sample the trailer below.

IMDB has 7 trivia items for this movie. Here’s three which I found interesting, in the blue text. The first one was long, so I spread it out a bit.

(Nobody likes long paragraphs which don't separate different topics with line breaks.) Rolling Eyes
________________________________

~ Elvis Presley didn't film in Acapulco and a stunt double was used.

Elvis himself was barred from entering Mexico as he had been declared as "persona non grata" by the Mexican government due to two incidents at the Las Americas movie theatre in the Mexican capital, one of them being a brawl between Elvis's fans and naysayers.

The main cause was comments made by Elvis himself saying that he refused to perform live in Mexico, as he found the country distasteful as a whole and would've preferred to "kiss three African Americans than a single Mexican."

Elvis did not in fact say this.

It was reported that a Mexican politician started this rumour because Elvis would not give a private concert for his daughter and her friends.

Note from me: Wow, I was glad to hear that Elvis didn't actually do the bad things described above. Shocked

~ Teri Garr made her uncredited movie debut as an extra in this film. She would go on to appear as an uncredited extra in several more Elvis Presley movies before becoming a full-fledged actress.

Note from me: Our late friend Bulldogtrekker was a huge fan of Teri Garr — a devotion I didn't share, something which the puzzled the heck of him. Laughing

~ Elvis was reportedly so intimidated by Ursula Andress' athletic physique, that he was reluctant to be filmed without his shirt on.

Note from me: Here's another actress whose popular appeal doesn't seem to work for me. I prefer ladies with dainty shoulders and broad hips. Miss Andress is exactly the reverse! Confused

IMDB.

In the movie, Raoul, Mike's juvenile "manager," demands half of whatever Mike receives for his singing. Mike's response is to laugh incredulously at an agent taking half of a performer's money.

In real life, Elvis Presley was actually giving half of his income to his real-life agent, Tom Parker, despite that being an exorbitant cut for a manager/agent.

This spurred legal action against Parker later on with the Presley estate, with a judge declaring Parker had mishandled Presley's finances and had taken inappropriate amounts.

Better late than never, I guess? One of the all-time mysteries in Elvis's career was his undying loyalty to Parker.

I assume family, friends, and professionals who knew about Parker's cut, had attempted to persuade Presley to sign up with someone else as a manager. Happens all the time in showbiz, so it isn't a rare thing in the industry.

Also, from what I've read, Presley & Parker had a strictly business relationship from start to finish. There really wasn't a closeness or warm friendship between them.

I'd heard that Elvis simply had an undying loyalty to Parker because he was the man who launched his mega-career.
