The only flaw I noticed in this gorgeous remake of a rather unimpressive Disney sci-fi film from 1975 is the way it tries to be so fast paced it never presents scenes which allow the characters to slow down and develop the depth they deserve! Sad

I strongly suspect that the studio forced the producers and the director to lop out the slower scenes and keep the story zooming along, just because they thought young people would get bored if the movie ever stopped sprinting and slowed down to a trot. Shocked

However, this film is still a sparkling gem of science fiction cinema, and after watching it recently I decided to watch it again the next day and pause it when things galloped along too fast for my elderly intellect. Very Happy

That worked just fine. It was even more fun the second time around.

I highly recommend this intelligent, action-packed movie with a great cast, a complex story, and satisfying conclusion. If you haven't seen it, I just gave you a Christmas present, six months early! Very Happy

And your stocking-stuffer is the great trailer below! Merry Christmas in June. Wink

The pace of many films nowadays is one of my pet peeves, Bud.

It seems that in order to appeal to the all-important youth market, filmmakers put out rapid fire films that never slow down, at the expense of good dialogue or character development.

The short attention span generation waits for nothing. They want only a roller coaster ride for the entire length of a movie.

Right you are!

And with Race to Witch Mountain's roller-coaster story, the soundtrack music felt obliged to underscore the rapid pacing as well. So, not only were the visuals an assault on the senses, so was the audio!

In our discussion about a Captain Poweer reboot I mentioned that the original show had many thoughtful, emotional moments that elevated the show high above the kiddie market.

A reboot would sacrifice all that for the dreaded "sprint story-telling"! Rolling Eyes
