It was all the fault of some dweeb who slowed way down so he could look up her skirt to see if she was wearing panties. Naturally, the drivers behind him weren't watching him.

My question is this: why are these people stopped dead in the road directly beneath the giant lady wearing the world's largest miniskirt?

I mean, it just doesn't seem logical, you know?
Shocked

Maybe they didn't stop beneath her.

Maybe she stopped over them!

Perhaps they did see her from a mile away and had the pile up. Then after the pile up, she walked over to the scene of the carnage and started picking up cars...and that's the moment depicted in the poster.

When you are 50 feet tall, you can probably cover a mile in about 90 seconds...not enough time for the folks in the accident to gather their thoughts and find an escape route (doesn't look like those cars have alternative egress choices).

Right. And her thought at that moment was, "I'll bet these guys wish they'd brought cameras . . . " Cool

And I could be wrong, but . . . are several of those guys pointing up? Shocked

It does lead credence to the old punchline-

"Help me find my car and we'll drive out'a here !!"

Figures. You just know the script was written by a man. And while I'm going all feminist, the poster was designed by one too.

I wonder if anybody was disappointed when the scene in the poster never showed up in the film?

That was an ongoing source of disappointment in those days.

Right! And it was especially disappointing in this case, because the movie never gave us anything remotely as exciting as what the poster showed. Aside from the obvious suggestion of extreme southern exposure (Wink), the poster is a perfect representation of death-and-destruction, panic-in-the-streets, and a monster-in-the-city!

It's plum glorious! Very Happy

I hate to get dragged into a juvenile discussion, but how do you know she;s not wearing undies? Even rudimentary ones?

I may have missed something, but I read back through the thread, and at no point did anyone mention her undergarments, one way or the other.

However, if we analyzed the situation logically, her clothing was hastily fabricated from bed sheets, and when she lit out to find her cheating husband I'm not sure she took the time to make anything other than the simple halter and wrap-around skirt.

But trust me, even it she DID have on "rudimentary undies" as you described them, the men below would have been just as mesmerized by the view.

A big part of the appeal in situations like that (the real-life ones, I mean) is knowing you're looking at something the lady didn't intend for you to see! When women's dresses were floor length in 1890, men went gaw-gaw at the accidental sight of a calf!

The word naughty says it all. Wink

So be sure I get proper credit for initiating the juvenile discussion. Cool

Ah-ha. I should have said, "Nobody claimed that she was NOT wearing undergarments."

Wondering if she's wearing them is certainly not the same as claiming she isn't wearing them.

However, I stand corrected . . . while pointing up in amazement.
Shocked

Maybe she is wearing short shorts under her outfit.

(A private joke that Bud will like.)
