Eadie here.

While Butch is in the hospital I am posting these pictures from eBay™ that he has bid on. It is a Joshua Tree Marquette for Forbidden Planet that was rejected for use in the study of the house.

I wonder why it was rejected? Any thoughts?

Wow, Eadie! Welcome back! You HAVE been missed. Very Happy

I guess the reason it wasn't used was because they had enough decor already in the study on the "wet bar" (as I call it).

___________

I noticed from the plaque that the Joshua Tree sculpture is by the same artist who did the piece on the far right in that picture — Sasha Brasoff, who did so much of the artwork in the Morbius house.

The description on the eBay listing says it's a "paperweight" and it's 3 1/4 inches in height. All the Brastoff sculptures in the Morbius house were much larger, so this piece wouldn't have stood out very well. (Be sure Butch's knows how small it is. He might not want it if he knows is just a paperweight.)

If it was about 10 inches high I swear I buy it and put it on my end table right next to me! The "Buy it Now" price is $199.99, with no current bids.

A piece of Forbidden Planet decor in my living room! Very Happy

You posted the jpeg below a few years ago of a somewhat similar piece by Brastoff when we had that great discussion about the decor in the Morbius house.

Here's the ebay auction (item #282988569450). Note that the "Buy It Now" price is now $125 and there are currently no bidders.

The paper weight was supposed to be on the desk in the study.

A proposed FX shot from one of the remakes.

This is a blow-up of a rare color picture of Robby's "jeep" transporter 'vehicle' as used in The Twilight Zone episode The Rip Van Winkle Caper before Bill Malone restored it and sold it, along with Robby, for over $5,000,000.00!

Yes indeed, Butch! Well over the price you quoted. In fact, Bonhams states that the price was $5,375,000.

Bill Malone was fairly compensated for this faithful preservation and restoration of Robby for all these years, and we are all very grateful to him! Very Happy

This is aviator Roscoe Turner and one of Tanner's uncles (Tanner was the lion at the beginning of Forbidden Planet). Shouldn't lion be the current symbol of M-G-M as they are a entertainment company NOT a regular movie production company?

Now THIS is a true sci-fi tea pot!!!

I WANT this for my birthday. In just 2 months, ON August 17th I will be 18!

Look at what I've purchased for Father's Day for Butch:

A Children's version of Forbidden Planet by John E. Muller. It explains in simple terms the concepts of the film without being condescending! (I know this because we already have a copy that is falling apart from Butch's youth.) AS you know MY 18th birthday is in just about 2 months. Look at this card Pye-Rate found on-line for me:

My mom (mommysan) is printing this on card stock to make a proper card!

Dr. Morbius Was not only Arrogant, But also a poorly trained scientist and blind and stupid to boot!

He stated that no evidence of their physical form remains ("Except, perhaps, in the form of this characteristic arch.")

WRONG!

There is lots of evidence! the height of the stairs indicates (partly)_ the length of their stride, The colors used thru out the entire complex show the probable range of light frequencies they see and the intensity of the light shows what they were comfortable with. (the light from Altair would NOT be comfortable at all; much like young Anakin Skywalker complaining about being cold. The music shows not only the hearing range but gives an insight to their psychology.

Can anyone think of other?

LET THE FUN BEGIN!
