Childhood's End is an upcoming American television miniseries on Syfy, based on the novel of the same name, by Arthur C. Clarke.

Childhood's End, a three night event, starts December 14 at 8/7c on the Syfy channel.

I loved the book.
The OTR programs that I have found have lousy sound quality, so I can't comment on the radio version.
I hope the Syfy TV 3-parter is worthwhile.

This is one case when I wish I had cable instead of rabbit ears. Oh, well, there will be a DVD soon enough.

I've always wonder why Asimov fans objected to the recent I, Robot movie. If ever there was a concept that needed to be updated for the 21st century, it's the way we perceive robotics.

I thought the Will Smith films was brilliant and exciting. Hopefully something like that will happen here, too.

As long as we're discussing Asimov in this Clarke thread...

Do you think FOUNDATION might ever be made into a movie (a series of movies, or a TV miniseries, would be a more appropriate in this case), and would you welcome it? If done properly, I think it could be winner.

What I would discourage is a regular TV series, which would quickly degrade into emotional junk if history is any kind of indicator.

I liked Will Smith's I ROBOT, up until that ridiculous battle at the end.

Wikipedia kindly gives a link to Archive.org, which has the eight hour-long radio episodes available here. I do actually have the official BBC boxed set of eight audiocassettes, but MP3 files are easier to handle, these days. Smile
