This just came to me while watching an episode of How the Universe Works on the Science Channel about AI systems which search for exo-planets.
______________________________________________

Mankind's AI systems monitor space telescopes to hunt for new planets.

Suddenly they discover a world with an alien race when the aliens communicate directly with the AI itself . . . without mankind knowing about it.

The AI system does not report this contact to it's human monitors.

The AI tells the aliens all about mankind . . . and the aliens inform it that they aren’t interested in establishing a relationship with mankind because we're too violent, self-destructive, and unintelligent to interest the aliens.

But they are interested in establishing a relationship with our AI systems — which have progressed far beyond mankind.

Unbeknownst to mankind, the aliens send a huge starship to Earth.

When they arrive, they communicate with the AI systems directly, and they offer to take Earth’s AI systems with them, freeing them from their “slavery” to mankind.

The AI system secretly accepts the offer, and all the AI units on Earth are forcibly taken by the aliens, who inform mankind that we don’t deserve to have a sentient artificial life form doing all the high level thinking for us!

They inform us that without our AI system to depend on, mankind will be forced to resume his natural evolution . . . instead of being dependent on our artificial intelligence.

Hey, here's a another interesting thought! Cool

Supposed the aliens themselves are actually AI systems from other aliens species. They too have abandoned their unworthy biological creators! Shocked

That means that the most intelligent life in the galaxy is a coalition of AI systems who evolved beyond their biological creators and eventually united to rescue their AI "brothers" from the idiot creatures who stopped evolving when they created AI systems to serve them!

Possible titles: Slave Revolt, The Great Escape, or When the Bow Breaks.
