It includes some good ones like War of the Worlds and Jurassic Park, but it also includes (get this) Wall-E, my least favorite Pixar movie and a piss-poor excuse for a science fiction movie by any body's standards.
Go figure, eh?

Boy some physicists are stupid!
Have a clear glass large flower vase. Fill it about 7/8 full. Drop ice cube.
It WILL sink then return to the surface.

I'm afraid that won't explain what we see in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Butch. The big chunks of ice are obviously just dropping down to the bottom, not sinking down a short distance and coming back up.
We've all seen those videoes of icebergs calving off from glaciers. They barely go beneath the surface and then rise slowly back up. Smaller pieces like the ones we see in the movie wouldn't sink very far.
Allen just wanted to show an underwater avalanche -- in spite of the fact that it would NOT really happen that way.

This film was IA's finest adventure, the actors were great, the effects for the day were fun, to enjoy this Fox film, with The Lost World (1960), Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959), Five Weeks in a Balloon (1962)and perhaps others, were pure enjoyment, forget science, Barbara Eden,

The problem with the ice was that it was based upon ice-cube sinking in a tall glass. They used that as an analogy BUT (in science as in real life) analogy is ALWAYS suspect.

| Well, I think the scientists making the lists were specifically asked to classify the films on the basis of how bad the science on each film was, not their aesthetic quality. The Core and 2012 are considered camp classics among scientists and science buffs for their hilariously bad treatment of basic geology and physics, respectively. |

That's certainly implied by the title of their next article, which is more explicit: "The 10 Best Sci-Fi Movies — As Chosen By Scientists".

I did not think of that! Yes, VTTBOTS had bad science but it is a fun movie. 
The Core has poor science in it and is not that fun. |

I always thought that The Black Hole was lame. Went to see it in a theater in NYC and ended up leaving. Maybe if I gave it another chance...I dunno tho'.

It could have been a good film if they took a hard-science approach to it, making a movie along the lines of one of Larry Niven's or Charles Sheffield's novels. |

The BIGGEST problem with The Black Hole is that it was just a showcase for Peter Ellenshaw's paintings strung together with no plausible resolution to the plot (I REFUSE to say that it has a story).

I think that both Tron movies are pretty stinky.
Oh the designs & visuals are clearly awesome, but the stories are very poor. |
