This was a television pilot co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Hammer Film Productions.

Curt Siodmak was hired as the writer/producer for this pilot.

"The Face in the Tombstone Mirror" is the title for the pilot but it is not used in the credits.

Hammer & Columbia planned to produce 26-episodes for the series, with each studio doing 13-episodes.

The project was intended to introduce Hammer Films company to America. Friction developed between Hammer & Columbia, so the production ended after this pilot which is currently on Youtube.

Curt Siodmak felt the show had no hope as a weekly running series because "You cannot carry a whole show with nothing but Frankenstein stories."
