This is an animated feature wherein hand drawn characters move about in a 3D CGI environment.

The anime is characteristic of the Japanese style of subtle movement, unrushed dwelling on a scene, and (of course) the mandatory unusually coiffed, wind-tousled hair. The CGI aircraft are all propeller-driven, the designs of which suggest WWII aircraft. The flying scenes and dogfights are aerial ballets, a visual delight. Even the shots of the aircraft taxiing include subtle dips when brakes are applied. Dialog is in the original Japanese with English captions, except during flying scenes, where all dialog is English.

The plot involves the continual air war between two industrial corporations, using "Kildren" as pilots. Kildren are perpetually young pre-adults who die only by being killed. They exist in a perpetual state of lethargy, not seeming to be able to recall their past. Whenever one is killed, a replacement soon arrives at the airbase, bearing a striking resemblance to his predecessor.

Thanks
