Icons of Sci-Fi : Toho Collection is a DVD of 3 classic Japanese sci-fi films and is available this week (today, in fact). The films are: Mothra, The H-Man and Battle in Outer Space. These were previously available only as DVD-Rs or on VHS. See it here, on Amazon.com

In my opinion, the best of the three is 'The H-Man'. A rather atmospheric movie...not badly dubbed at all (though I find it a bit amusing that the dubbing is nice and clear but with a fake Japanese accent for all the characters).
'Battle in Outer Space' has some nice effects but as a kid, I remember that the scene we all loved to see was when the moonships pass the wreckage of the earlier destroyed space station, the effects include a couple of bodies that fly past along with the debris. We just thought that was SOOOOO cool!!! |

The current price on Amazon is under $10, which seems like a pretty good deal. _________________ ____________

In my opinion, Battle in Outer Space is the best of the three and easily worth $10.
I have owned this collection for a few years and the case for the three DVDS is very odd; they are stacked one one another like sliced cheese.
