As a Time Tunnel avid nutcase I can safely tell you, Eadie, that that isn't Robert Colbert but is rather James T.Callahan as the traitor Beard from the episode One Way To the Moon! Boy I love watching this show again after getting the DVD set ten years ago!

I should give The Time Tunnel a fresh look, since I haven't seen it in decades. After all, I might decide I like it as much as you do, JB!
And I love this shot of the two actors in space suits, sitting there with what is obviously . . . their biggest fan!

The Time Tunnel was notorious for using scenes from other films! Mostly it was historical battles from the major epics but in this episode they took footage from Destination:Moon I think? They even had their actors wear exactly the same costumes from the 1950 movie, although there were one or two discrepancies!

That was the only thing that made the show possible. Irwin Allen said the reason the show didn't have a second season, is because they ran out of historical footage to use.

Trying do sci-fi "on the cheap" has been the downfall of many series.
A few days ago I received the first three discs of Battlestar Galatica, because the recent discussions here on All Sci-Fi made me want to give the series another look.
Sadly, I managed to get about 3/4 of the way through the pilot episode before I remembered just how the constant reuse of so many FX scenes just ruined my enjoyment of the series. They spent so much money to make the great FX John Dykstra provided for the pilot, they ended up not being able to make enough of 'em to avoid showing the same ones over and over!
Battlestar Galatica has other problems too, of course, but I think a major reason the series failed is because Glen Larson was too cheap to provide the Star Wars lovin' public with enough of what it wanted — great FX. And we got tired of seeing the same ones so damn often!
I mean, if we saw those Vipers "hit the torbos" once, we saw it fifty times!

Glen Larson had his faults, but the budget wasn't his fault. Neither the studio, or network would pony up the money needed. Despite good ratings, ABC canceled the show because even with the cost cutting measure of constant stock footage use, the network still found the show too expensive. The show had a large supporting cast and large expensive standing sets. The Bridge was a large, very expensive set with all the electronics and support actors to man the set.
It should be remembered that BSG was only suppose to be a series of TV movies. ABC wanted it turned into a series, with a very short time to develop it before the fall season. It was a mad dash to develop stories and have the scripts written.

That's very true. That's why when it returned as GALACTICA 1980 they were able to utilize stock footage along with a contemporary setting and minimal "space" or shipboard scenes. Casting was equivalent to doing an episode of ADAM 12 so costs were kept lower.
Still, my favorite episode was THE RETURN OF STARBUCK. _________________ There comes a time, thief, when gold loses its lustre, and the gems cease to sparkle, and the throne room becomes a prison; and all that is left is a father's love for his child. |

I just finished watching the first six episodes (counting the pilot), and I'm beginning to regret my critical remarks.
The FX are less repetitive than I remembered, and the stories are more interesting than I recall. The writing of the episodes impresses me much more than the pilot.
In short, I spoke too soon! _________________ ____________

You mean to say you've never heard of Jackson Pollock, one of the most famous and influential painters of the Abstract Expressionist movement?

Yes, we've heard of him, BUT no one here recognized that painting.
On the other hand another pic from one Way to the Moon showing how the stars were pampered.:

Norman Rockwell didn't think any more of Jackson Pollocks "paint splashing" than I do. He expressed his distain in this amusing painting called "The Connoisseur".
Norman brilliantly positioned this well-rendered figure of the gentleman at a museum standing in front of the random hodge-podge that resembled Mr. Pollock's work, as if to say, "Which of us is really an artist?"
But hey, that's my opinion.

Regarding BSG maybe that's why some of the regular stars began disappearing throughout the run of the series? First Larry Manetti as Giles, then Ensign Greenbean as played by Ed Begley JR and then Maren Jensen as Athena, Noah Hathaway as Boxey (although his character was resurrected for Galactica 80) Jack Stauffer as Bojay, who was brought in from the Pegasus and finally the Cylons themselves who vanished midway through the series only to reappear in the final episode and have sporadic episodes in Galactica 80!

Meanwhile back in The Time Tunnel. There used to be a post on this thread that was very long all about the creation, planning, filming, Selling, and marketing of the series (including plans for the 2nd season}. Butch still has ALL of the pictures (along with just over 18,000 pictures and gifs covering posts he made to 11 different boards — along with those originally posted by Pye-Rate and myself). I'll not try to re-post them. What I will do is give a tour of the complex along with other goodies.
The exterior desert hidden entrance:
THen we are taken on a tour of the same stadium used in Fantastic Voyage. (Kind of boring, really.) See the episode on YouTube™ [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rC3fHrax5ZA&t=10s ] for details. (Sorry for the poor vidual and sound quality.)
