They had to do more surgery, just a little one. The nurse found blood trickling from his mouth this morning. It seems that his blood pressure got to high. He's doing better now.

I saw your post at NautilusSubmarine about Butch's upcoming surgery...

(Butch is my Godfather.) I will be checking messages for him every few days as he is having surgery to remove a growth at the back of his brain. |
...but as far as I can tell, this was your first post about it here. The members here might be going _________________ ...or not...

He had surgery for a growth on his brain last Thursday. The doctors have been keeping him asleep, but plan to let him wake up tomorrow afternoon.

I got to talk to him today!
He mostly just grunts and stares but he does recognize me. The nurse says that it is just a matter of time before he can actually talk.

I'm up late tonight (October 8th) because one of my classes at school is watching the Lunar eclipse.
I visited my Godfather, Butch (Robert Day), today. He was able to speak, but very slowly. He says "Hi!" to everyone and hopes to be back soon. The nurse says not for a month to a month and a half.
While waiting for the eclipse to start I found these pictures I'd like to share. If they are in the wrong place, I apologize; and hope someone can move them to the correct place.
The Nautilus on a foggy day:
A walk-through exhibit which seems small to me:
Another exhibit with a good view of the coral pieces in the fountain:
Three great Disney Imagineers; John Hench and Herbert Ryman (standing) and Harper Goff:
I've also posted this at Nautilus Submarine. (Now back to Moon watching ??? there's a quiz/test on it tomorrow afternoon!)
Eadie.

Thanks, Eadie.
Please tell Butch how much we miss him. We appreciate the way you're keeping us posted on his condition.
I think we'll leave those great pictures right here, because they brighten up this thread and remind us of the contributions your godfather makes to All Sci-Fi.
Butch can post them on the 20,000 Leagues thread when he makes his triumphant return!

Today they took off his bandages around his eyes, gave him sunglasses and let him out of bed! The nurse's aide (not a Candy Stripper, I asked) moved him around in a wheel chair. We went to the cafeteria and had lunch. (Well he watched and talked slowly as I ate). He told the aid not to move too fast as it made him dizzy.
I'm so happy!
Eadie.

Hearing about poor Butch being in such a weakened condition saddened me, Eadie, but you ended your message by saying, "I'm so happy!" That made me feel better.
Thanks.
Butch's is going to love catching up with the posts here on All Sci-Fi when he starts feeling better (if he hasn't started reading them already ).
Meanwhile, I hope our members while get busy and contribute plenty of interesting things for Butch (and the rest of us) to read! _________________ ____________

That's great news, Eadie! Be sure to get him back on time to avoid a late fee!
No, wait. That's Blockbuster Video, and they don't do that anymore. _________________ ____________

Yes they do. If we didn't get him back on time they won't let us take him out next week. Meanies.

Okay, here's the plan!
Call Bill Malone, have him bring Robby to the hospital for a visit to "cheer the patient up", then sneak Butch out by hiding him inside Robby! _________________ ____________

He took his first steps today! He was very shaky but the therapist was pleased.
Despite this picture:
He is NOT that old and he is still alive!
