P-Bucket has changed things again! ...

I have TWO problems with this.

1) I can find no way out of this screen (I actually had to restart my computer TWICE; once to get out, second to get out after taking a screen-dump picture).

2) Apparently P-Bucket now considers your photos to be their photos WITHOUT paying you for them or the use of them OR if you got them from somewhere else on the web paying or acknowledgement of them.

It's always annoying when Photobucket tinkers with a perfectly functional system. Having said that, I am (fortunately) having no problem with it. I just test-uploaded a picture and had no problem navigating and didn't get stuck on a screen.

Photobucket doesn't consider your photos to be their photos. This is a very old myth. For a decade I've heard people say they won't use Photobucket because photobucket can "steal" your pictures.

In their terms of service (and I double checked this 5 minutes ago) they state:

"You retain all your rights to any Content you submit, upload or display on or while using Photobucket. This means that you own all the Content you post and are responsible for its settings." Photobucket themselves put that ownership statement in bold.

The problem arises from this statement in their terms of service:

"When you make your Content public, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license (with the right to sublicense) to copy, distribute, stream, post publicly display (e.g. post it elsewhere), reproduce and create derivative works from it (meaning things based on it), anywhere, whether in print or any kind of electronic version that exists now or is later developed, for any purpose, including a commercial purpose."

Photobucket has explained that statement based on the fact that they are not just a photo-host but a full service photo product provider. The production of prints, mouse pads, coffee mugs, photobooks etc. requires the reformatting of images and transmission to third parties. Photobucket needs to be able to do this without asking for your permission every time they need to access and transmit those pictures. Your photo may also be displayed when they run one of their frequent and regular contests and may be displayed in site advertising.

Photobucket has said they claim no ownership of your images and I'm not aware of anybody claiming that Photobucket has ever done so.

I just had occasion to move some images to other folders. I was annoyed at the tedium of moving them one at a time, until I discovered that I could use the pop-up check marks to select several to move together.

When you click on a check mark, it changes from white-on-black to white-on-blue. Once you've clicked the check marks of all the images you want to operate on collectively, you can select the desired action from a menu that appears at the bottom of the screen.

Actually they already had that function, Wayne, but they've changed the buttons and (I hope) improved the way it works. I haven't done much with the new functions yet, but it looks promising.

Butch just needs time to learn the new procedures.

My latest Photobucket problem is that putting the cursor over the IMG label no longer makes a hand so I can copy the link. I can copy the long link by copying and pasting.

Have I mentioned yet today how much I absolutely despise Photobucket?

The latest game is that is doesn't display my newly added images when I have the folder sorted by most recent images first, so I can't copy the image link. The image count increases, but no thumbnail appears.
