The Wachowskis have mounted another dazzling, imaginative visual feast with a good story, to boot. This is close to what I imagine a modern remake of Dune would look like. There is much going on in the highly detailed world of this movie; too much to grasp in one viewing. But that contributes to the value of a home video investment in order to study it more closely. _________________ ...or not...

What a happy coincidence. I received this one from Netflix today, and I'm going to watch it tomorrow.
Thanks for raising my anticipation for it, Wayne! _________________ ____________

Wow. I was disappointed. The plot was too simple and there were hardly any special effects.
Oh, wait . . . sorry. That was Smokey and the Bandit II.
Jupiter Ascending, however, had a complex plot that made a Rubik's cube look like a checker game, and more special effects than you could shake an inertialess stick at really, really fast.
You're suggestion that this movie needs to be watched more than once to fully appreciate it is bang on target, Wayne. And I had to cheat a little by reading the Wikipedia plot summary while watching the movie. That's how I got through college with 3.4 grade point average.
I cheated.
Boy oh boy, the Wachowski Brothers certainly don't do anything small. Maybe if they made movies independently (each working on his own film), we wouldn't get movies with twice as much as we can absorb in a single viewing.
Naaaaw . . . where's the fun in that?
PS: To my own credit, I did figure out during this first viewing that the star was Jackie from That 70s Show. Like, awesome, Dude! _________________ ____________

HEY! Don't disrespect Buford T. Justice! And Fred, or he'll come an bay outside of your window, when you're trying to sleep! That's Fred that will do the baying, not Buford T. Justice. He'll barbecue a part of your body in molasses.

I don't really think you can still refer to them as the Wachowski Brothers any longer. Not since one of them got some pretty radical surgery.

Oh my goodness. I didn't know. So that's why the closing credits said "Written and Directed by The Wachowskis". _________________ ____________

Surprised and kind of sorry to read that y'all liked this thing. It's a travesty. Actually, it's a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham!
This is a really bad and aggressively stupid movie. The Wachowskis offer up some pretty images, but they haven't made a good movie since THE MATRIX. And, frankly, even that one is looking less fetching every year. From now on, I think I'll just stick with the original MATRIX, back when it was called DARK CITY.
In this gigantic pile of doo-doo, there is one good, clever segment. It's cute for five minutes or so when the new Queen of the Universe (or whatever she is) has to deal with intergalactic bureaucracy. That's a nice little slice there. The entire rest of this thing just bites the big one.
Mila Kunis is gorgeous, but she can't help it. She's gorgeous in anybody's movie. I felt sorry for Channing Tatum who is actually a surprisingly good actor.
But Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne now has to give back his award and never be nominated again. Matter of fact, I'm questioning whether he should ever be allowed to act again. One of the worst, most self-indulgent performances I have ever seen.
I'm glad you guys enjoyed it, but you'd better check your meds, 'cause this thing is atrocious. _________________ Man need not kneel before the angels,

I have to agree this was not as good as I expected....BUT.... it was still kinda a fun ride.
No, it didn't make a lot of sense. I mean the Queen of the Universe moonlighting as a cleaning lady! Still, the effects were good and the fighting wolf/man flying around was fun to watch.
Just put your brain on low simmer, grab some popcorn and milk-duds and play along! |

Damn! And here I just ordered the movie from Amazon (having initially watched it from Netflix).
Double-damn! I ordered a Blu-ray instead of just a plain old DVD. Or if I had only ordered a VHS copy, I could have saved myself the agony of watching it again, since I no longer have a VHS player.
You see why I hate putting my opinions of movies into print, Bud? There's always somebody or two with a totally different opinion. I end up with serious doubts about my sanity and have to recheck the dosage of all my meds. This takes up serious time due to the massive quantities I ingest daily. I can't even confide in my psych because he may take me off my electro-shock therapy if he finds out. _________________ ...or not...

Still, I plan to burn the Blu-ray when it arrives. While it's still in the shipping envelope.
I can't handle pain. _________________ ...or not...

The disc arrived today. Instead of burning it I'm going to watch it with a baseball bat close at hand to beat myself on the head every five to ten minutes or so for ordering this travesty.
If I survive the ordeal, it will be made clear in the premier of Season 7. _________________ ...or not...
