This is a story that constantly fascinated Ray Harryhausen.

"The legend of the fabled lost continent of Atlantis has always inspired my imagination. The premise was the destruction of the island of Atlantis (Lemuria). The drawings I completed in the 1940s show dinosaurs attacking classical buildings whilst volcanoes erupt in the background." Harryhausen: The Lost Movies.

I've always said that these has yet to be an awesome film about Atlantis.
