_______________

The sensationalistic title is inappropriate for this sixty-two-minute British sci-fi tale which contains plot elements similar to Target Earth, Beyond the Time Barrier, and The Last Man on Earth.

Test pilot Willard Parker returns from a mission and discovers that Earth's population has been wiped out by unseen invaders. Over-sized, glass-headed robots patrol the deserted cities, turning the few remaining survivors into zombies. Parker finds a few refugees (Virginia Field and Dennis Price), and together they search for a way to defeat the aliens.

Director Terence Fisher, veteran of many Hammer horror films, does a fair job considering the modest budget.

This film always looked cheesy from the pics of the robots I'd seen, but when I first viewed the film (63 mins) I loved it, even down to the very first appearance of white eyed zombies hunting down human survivors in the pub!

If you're sitting on the fence as well, here's the trailer.

I only saw this film in more recent years as an adult and was pretty impressed by it. Very atmospheric and creepy. I'm sure I would have loved it as a kid.

I agree that the concept is good, but the execution is not great. Sad

After wanting to see this for years, I finally saw it last year. Definitely low budget, but it wasn't as bad as I feared.

The robot helmets were used as space suit helmets in "The Mouse On The Moon" and the last Road movie.
