Gabriella Licudi plays an alien disguised as a woman who marries scientist John Neville, a member of a scientific team working on a space/time project.

Several of the team's members are murdered, and Neville becomes suspicious of his new bride when he discovers she sleeps with her eyes open. (I'm bettin' she kisses with her eyes open, too -- which is creepy all by itself . . . )

Eventually she confesses to Neville that she is the first of an invading force. But in spite her intentions to make Neville her next victim, she can't bring herself to kill him because she's fallen in love with her human husband.

Watch for an especially weird scene in which the alien/wife cries tears of an acid-like liquid which smokes and burns down her cheeks.

Despite its low budget, the film is skillfully done, earning itself a good reputation. Written by Rex Carlton. Directed by John Krish.

I saw this in 1977 and never saw it again until I was able to get the movie for my collection a few years ago. A great movie!! I was surprised how much I remembered after around 30 years between viewing (and how much I forgot).

I think more results show up if Google is used. There's an option to search for videos and search tools to filter the duration (so that clips and trailers are not shown).

Also, I read that there are extensions for browsers and standalone programs that allow users to download streaming videos.

Most of the ways that the late Bulldogtrekker (Tim Edwards) and I used frequently to download movies during our six-year friendship are no longer available due the crack down on illegal downloads, so the info I provided above is now obsolete.

During the last few months of Tim's life before pancreatic cancer took him, we had very little luck using our familiar sources. But by that time we'd shared just about everything we could find, until we ended up scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

However, we still managed to find things that were fun to share. I really miss him.

The Wikipedia article about this movie has a plot synopsis that is absolutely amazing! I'll offer portions of it in blue text below, and present comments from me for each portion.

Okay . . . so here we go.

Dr. Mark Davidson (John Neville), the narrator, is in fear for his life. His predecessor died under mysterious circumstances just after making a major breakthrough. The cause of death ("an explosion inside his brain") is being withheld by Secret Service agent Major Clarke (Patrick Newell). The scientists are working on a project involving spaceflight by the power of mental concentration.

Note from me: Holy mackerel, what a premise! I know the movie never shows a single scene to support this idea, so it's all presented through dialog. That's a shame.

Dr. Mark Davidson has a new Swiss wife, Julie (played by Gabriella Licudi), in whom Maj. Clarke takes an interest. Julie has a number of unusual characteristics, such as sleeping with her eyes open, never blinking and having no pulse, which makes her husband suspect she is an alien.

Note from me: Well, you certainly can't blame the guy for thinking his "Swiss" wife is not a typlical gal from Zürich can you?

She also frightens children and can handle very hot objects with her bare hands. After frightening a whole schoolyard of children, though, it emerges she can cry, though the tears burn her cheeks.

Note from me: Did this guy discuss any plans with his beloved for having a family before they got married? If not, he probably gave up that idea after the events described above.

Maj. Clarke does a background check and finds she never existed before her life with the doctor. As a precaution, Dr. Mark Davidson is relieved of his lab duties. With nothing else to do, he works on the problem his predecessor had figured out. He is able to recover the lost formula. For security reasons, Maj. Clarke confiscates the notes, but is struck dead in the same mysterious way.

Note from me: Wait . . . suddenly we learn there's a "formula" for powering spaceflight by mental concentration? This synopsis needs a few revisions . . .

Eventually, Julie confesses that she is an alien sent to kill her husband and that she must leave because she has failed, as she has fallen in love with him. Despite his pleas, she vanishes, leaving only an empty dress. He rushes into his office and makes the tape which narrates the film, warning that aliens want to prevent the breakthrough.

Note from me: Ummm . . . aliens who vanish and leave their clothing. Obvious conclusion: this movie is too cheap to give the audience any special effects!

And the idea that the alien lady failed her mission because she fell in love with the human . . . well, if that ain't corn on the cob, then God didn't make little green apples!

He is then interrupted by his secretary, who announces she is also an alien and she is there to finish the assignment. A scuffle ensues and she is pushed out of a window but only an empty dress lands on the pavement. The scientists rush downstairs and are quietly surrounded by a crowd of grim-visaged women, all of whom seem to be aliens.

Note from me: Yes, folks, that's exactly how this strange movie ends!

The ramifications of the story are perplexing! Mankind is developing thought-propelled spaceships, and this is deemed a threat to aliens who can masquerade as human women. But they're capable of falling in love with human men and failing to complete there alien mission because of this!

Both of my ex-wives looked undeniably human (and quite lovely), but they treated me inhumanly!

Does that prove they were aliens?

Perhaps it did, because the judges in each case ruled largely in my favor, and neither ex-wives got squat, monetarily.

So I guess I did okay.
