Jerry's forays into sci-fi/fantasy would have been "Scared Stiff" from 1953 with his comic pardner Dean Martin.
Cinderfella.Jerry reworks the classic Cinderella fantasy story by updating it to the 20th century & changing the gender of the lead character.
In 1963 he wrote, produced, directed & was the star of what many consider to be a comedy classic, "The Nutty Professor", based upon Robert Louis Stevenson's "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde".

"Way, Way Out" was one of his comedies about a couple living on the moon.

"Visitor From Another Planet", based upon the Gore Vidal play saw Jerry as an alien coming to earth to study humans. I'm guessing Gore never went to see this adaptation of his work.

________________________________

I'm not really a Jerry Lewis fan . . . except for his two whimsical contributions to science fiction, Visit to a Small Planet and Way . . . Way Out, the former of which I saw at the East Point Theater when it first came out.

Forgive me for posting the picture below yet again, but Wayne's recent enhancement of the marquee letters makes it just too good not to share here! Very Happy

I probably saw it with my childhood friend Jimmy Harmon, who loved sci-fi as much as I did, but I don't quit remember. But if I did, I'm sure we rode the public bus back to College Park where we both lived while we discussed the crazy blend of science fiction, comedy, and sexual tension that wacky movie presented.

I'm sure many folks around the world (especially in France) are saddened by the loss of this America comedy legend. And I might just watch Visit to a Small Planet tonight in memory of Jerry!

Bud, Mark Evanier has an interesting article on his blog regarding Jerry that you might enjoy.

I think Mark captures Jer's complex personality quite well.

Like you, I was never a big Jerry fan. He was an interesting gent to listen to in a interview.

I've seen almost all of his films. The ones with Dean & the solo ones. There are laughs here & there but overall Jer never really appealed to me. Humor is indeed subjective.

Jerry created the video assist that is still used to this day.

As Bud knows, I consider The Nutty Professor to be a fine sci-fi comedy. R.I.P. Jerry Lewis.

As BDT knows, I think Kreton could beat up Buddy Love with one hand tied behind his back, because he's got that personal force field.

But then again . . . Buddy has Stella Stevens. Shocked
