I was preparing myself to spend the remainder of my twilight years there, only to discover that those terrific images weren't links to more material. It's just a fancy Pinterest. Darn!

Oh, well. There are plenty of great pictures, as Bud said, to keep me busy for some time. The farther down I scrolled, the more the images kept multiplying.

By the way, in Eadie's post, the middle b/w photo in the top row... I had one of those space helmets I found in some store when I was in Jr. High. (I guess the current designation is Middle School.) I put together a space suit to go under it for Halloween that year.

Unfortunately, it got lost in the shuffle shortly afterward.

The Space Patrol Space Helmet (used in the TV show, like all S.P. toys) was worn by Tom Ewell's son in the beginning of "The Seven Year Itch".

By gum, you're right! I love the way the oxygen tanks are inflatable! With a strong enough material, that would actually work! Very Happy

You see the big three in those photos. Space Patrol space helmet, Tom Corbett, Space Cadet costume and a Buck Rogers Sonic Ray raygun.

I haven't seen the movie in decades, but I remember that when he is hugging his son goodbye, while the kid is in that outfit, the kid cries out: Mommy! Mommy! Daddy's cutting off my oxygen! Laughing

Whomever was in charge of merchandising for "Space Patrol" was a genius. By using the toys designed for the show as props on the show, it turned the show into one big commercial for the merchandise. Plus it made all the toys screen accurate! How many times, as a child were you disappointed by the poor representation of a toy for a prop, or vehicle from a TV show, or movie? "Space Patrol" solved that problem.

Yes, they ACTUALLY used the premium as a plot point in the story!

One of my fondest memory from childhood was when I was 6 years old and my father took me to see the Ralston Rocket!

The flagship of the Space Patrol right there in the supermarket parking lot with the hatch open and the boarding stairs down beckoned me to come aboard!

There in all it's glory was the stuff of dreams! I sat in the pilots seat and imagined going off with Commander Correy and Cadet Happy to battle Mr. Proteus and evil Prince Baccarratti ray guns blazing!
Ah......The wonder of a young mind!
